Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A controversy has erupted in the Haridevpur area of Kolkata after files belonging to Simplex Infrastructure Ltd were allegedly found being burned near a canal beside a cancer hospital. The incident created panic among local residents, who intervened and stopped the individuals involved before alerting the police. Officers from Haridevpur Police Station reached the spot shortly after and secured the area.
The BJP has alleged that the documents were linked to government tenders handled by the company, particularly canal renovation projects in the surrounding areas. According to party leaders and residents, the files contained details of payments made under various names, along with photocopies of several cheques. The party further claimed that despite funds being disbursed, the work on multiple projects was either incomplete or improperly executed, raising suspicions of financial irregularities.
Amid these allegations, company employees maintained that the documents were old and no longer required, and were being disposed of accordingly. Kolkata Police has initiated an investigation into the incident to verify the claims and determine whether any wrongdoing or attempt to destroy evidence was involved. The situation has added to political tensions in the area as authorities continue their probe.
